ESFNA — Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America

Since 1984

Bringing Ethiopians together.

Bringing Ethiopians together to network, supporting the business community, and empowering the young through scholarships and mentoring — with soccer tournaments, other sports and cultural events as the vehicle.

Who we are

A federation of thirty-two clubs

The Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA), founded in 1984, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the rich Ethiopian culture and heritage, and to building a positive environment within Ethiopian communities in North America.

Its mission is bringing Ethiopians together to network, supporting the business community, and empowering the young by providing scholarships and mentoring programs — primarily using soccer tournaments, other sports activities and cultural events as a vehicle.

By virtue of its legal status, ESFNA is free of political, religious and ethnic affiliations. We have adhered to this position all along, because our focus is to promote sports and culture. Outside of the sports events, ESFNA has contributed to development and humanitarian efforts in Ethiopia.

A new city every summer

The tournament moves every year. To be selected, a member team submits its bid to the Executive Committee ahead of time; it must meet the requirements in the Tournament Guidelines and show that it has the support of the Ethiopian community in its city.
